Turkmenistan is the first in the WHO European Region to evaluate the National Influenza Vaccination Program using the FAIR tool

From 12 to 15 May 2025, experts from the headquarters of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the WHO Regional Office for Europe visited Turkmenistan to discuss issues related to improving the National Influenza Vaccination Program.
The delegation included Shoshanna Sterman Goldin, Ioana Giga and Pernille Jorgensen. During the visit, meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, academia, healthcare providers, and specialists responsible for administering vaccines were held.
It should be emphasized that Turkmenistan became the first country in the WHO European Region to assess the National Influenza Vaccination Program using the FAIR tool and the corresponding maturity matrix. Its results were presented at the workshop. In addition, experts conducted a tabletop simulation exercise aimed at testing the National plans for the deployment of influenza vaccination.
The mission resulted in the preparation of a detailed report, including recommendations for improving national influenza vaccination policies.
In this context, special attention was paid to identifying further areas of joint activity between the World Health Organization and the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan in implementing the National Vaccination Program.
