The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran
On March 28, 2024, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hossein Amir Abdollahian.
Having conveyed cordial greetings to Arkadag from President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi and the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry emphasized that his country is interested in strengthening a fruitful dialogue with Turkmenistan.
Having welcomed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran to the ancient hospitable Turkmen land, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty addressed his best wishes to the top leadership of the neighboring country.
Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, focusing on the importance of building up partnerships in the political, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian spheres, as well as within the framework of major international organizations, thanked the Iranian side for co-authoring the Resolution “2025 – International Year of Peace and Trust”, adopted by the UN General Assembly on the initiative of Turkmenistan.
Stressing that bilateral cultural ties are developing in accordance with the spirit of the times, Arkadag noted the significance of large-scale celebrations on the occasion of the proclamation of the ancient city of Anau as the cultural capital of the Turkic world and the opening of a new mosque in the city of Anau, Ahal velayat.
Noting the importance of visits by government delegations of the two countries at various levels and exchange of views on issues of bilateral and multilateral relations, the National Leader of the Turkmen people confirmed our country’s commitment to expanding mutually beneficial trade and economic partnership with the neighboring Islamic Republic of Iran.
As was emphasized, humanitarian cooperation plays an important role in strengthening interstate dialogue, bringing our peoples closer together, and in the mutual enrichment of cultures. At the same time, the emphasis was placed on the availability of ample opportunities for establishing close contacts in the fields of science, education, culture, art and sports.
As Arkadag noted, the upcoming negotiations between the head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry with his Turkmen colleagues will give new impetus to effective interstate partnership in various fields.
