Negotiations in Munich: Turkmenistan and Bavaria are looking for ways to interact
In the framework of the working visit of the Consul of Turkmenistan to Germany (Frankfurt am Main) Murad Ozbekbayev to Bavaria on July 2-3, a meeting was held in Munich with the Bavarian State Minister for European and International Affairs Eric Beisswenger.
During the meeting, the parties, noting the importance of developing interregional relations, discussed the prospects for cooperation between Turkmenistan and the state of Bavaria in areas of mutual interest, and also agreed to think through mechanisms for effective joint activities. At the same time, an exchange of views took place on organizing mutual visits at various levels and holding joint trade and economic events.
The Consul of Turkmenistan noted the main directions of the Turkmen-German partnership and presented a detailed overview of the economic development of our country, and also highlighted promising vectors of trade and economic interaction, ways to expand ties in the cultural, educational and medical spheres with this German region.
In the process of discussing issues of regional cooperation, Beisswenger expressed the interest of the state of Bavaria in establishing close cooperation with Turkmenistan. At the same time, the energy sector, chemical and textile industries, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and the agricultural sector were identified as promising areas. As concrete steps to increase interaction, it was proposed to consider the appointment of an honorary consul of Turkmenistan in Bavaria and holding a joint event in Munich to familiarize local business circles with the possibilities of interaction with Turkmenistan.
The Minister expressed the readiness of the Bavarian State Chancellery to assist the work of the Consulate of Turkmenistan in Germany in the matter of interregional cooperation.
During the working visit, the consul met with the member of the Executive Board, the head of the international relations department of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Munich and Upper Bavaria, Christoph Angerbauer.
During the negotiations, the feasibility of establishing direct contacts between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry, in particular, representatives of the business circles of Turkmenistan and Bavaria, was outlined. The possibilities of organizing a trade and economic mission of the state of Bavaria to Turkmenistan, holding a joint business forum in Munich and presenting the trade and economic potential of Turkmenistan at the Munich Chamber of Commerce and Industry were also discussed.
Angerbauer noted that the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Munich and Upper Bavaria, being the largest in Germany and one of the most significant business networks in Europe, numbering about 420 thousand member companies, can act as a link for the intensification of Turkmen-German trade-economic ties.
