Working visit of the Consul of Turkmenistan in Germany to the federal state of Saarland

In the framework of the working visit of the Consul of Turkmenistan in Germany (Frankfurt am Main) Myrat Ozbekbayev to the federal state of Saarland, which took place on January 28-30, 2025, a meeting was held in Saarbrücken with Head of Saarland’s State Chancellery, Authorised Representative for European Affairs, the State Secretary David Lindemann.

Discussing the main vectors of Turkmen-German cooperation, the sides noted the importance of establishing interregional contacts, whereas the prospects for cooperation between Turkmenistan and the state of Saarland in areas of mutual interest were considered.

In this context, there was an exchange of views on the possibilities of organizing bilateral visits at various levels, as well as holding joint events in the economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

In addition, the representatives of Saarland’s government were informed about the importance of international events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality and the proclamation of 2025 as the "International Year of Peace and Trust".

In course of the visit, the consul also met with a member of the board of the Saarland Chamber of Commerce and Industry Oliver Schmitt and head of the foreign trade department of the Chamber Oliver Groll.

During the talks, the interlocutors emphasized the importance of establishing direct contacts between the chambers of commerce and industry of Turkmenistan and the state of Saarland, as well as representatives of the business community of both sides. In particular, the prospects for the participation of Saarland companies in various trade and economic events held both in Turkmenistan and abroad, were discussed.

Energy, mechanical engineering, the pharmaceutical industry and high-tech technologies were identified as the promising areas of cooperation.

Apart from that, the consul met with a member of the International Association of Ahal-Teke Horse Breeding, Honored Horse Breeder of Turkmenistan, Director of the horse breeding company "Jacob Pferdezucht GbR" Katharina Jacob.

The parties discussed the prospects for the further development of equestrian sports in Turkmenistan, and also exchanged views on the upcoming events dedicated to the National Day of the Turkmen Horse, including the participation of Ahal-Teke horses in international competitions abroad, in particular, in Germany.
