The Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and India considered the priorities of cooperation development

On October 11, 2021, on the platform of the Sixth Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held bilateral talks with the Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

During the constructive talks, the sides discussed opportunities for further strengthening of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in political, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other prospective areas.

The regular character of the Turkmen-Indian contacts at the highest level was emphasized. The potential of inter-ministerial interaction was also noted. In this context, the expediency of holding the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on trade, economic, scientific and technological cooperation was expressed.

Noting the effectiveness of joint efforts to meet the challenges of our time, the diplomats emphasized the effectiveness of partnership of the two countries at regional and international levels. In particular, it has been noted that Turkmenistan and India are actively cooperating in the framework of reputable international organizations.

The sides particularly emphasized the role of «Central Asia-India» Dialogue. As the Foreign Ministers noted, the format provides opportunities to discuss wide range of issues.

The ministers also emphasized the active contacts of the parties in implementing the promising Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project.
