Meeting with the Chairman of the German-Turkmen Forum in Frankfurt
On January 27, 2026, at the Consulate of Turkmenistan in the Federal Republic of Germany (Frankfurt am Main), a meeting took place between the Consul of Turkmenistan, Myrat Ozbekbayev, and Andreas Jahn, Chairman of the German-Turkmen Forum and Executive Director of the Federal Association of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises of Germany (BVMW).
During the meeting, the parties took stock of the current state and prospective directions of Turkmen-German cooperation. Particular attention was paid to further developing trade and economic interaction between the two countries.
In this context, the participants exchanged views on the practical implementation of agreements reached following the Turkmenistan Economic Days in Germany, held on October 30–31, 2025, in Frankfurt. In particular, they discussed opportunities for organizing business missions both to Turkmenistan and to Germany, with an emphasis on further expanding direct contacts between representatives of small and medium-sized enterprises in both countries.
As a concrete step, the German side was invited to participate in the exhibition and conference dedicated to the 18th anniversary of the establishment of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, as well as in the upcoming International Forum on Private Sector Investment, “Investing in the Future of Turkmenistan” (IFT 2026), scheduled to take place from March 17 to 19, 2026, in Ashgabat.
Following the negotiations, the participants agreed to maintain momentum in implementing the set objectives aimed at intensifying trade and economic ties between Turkmenistan and Germany.
BVMW (Bundesverband mittelständische Wirtschaft e.V.) is the German Association of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, representing the interests of a significant portion of companies in this sector and encompassing more than 900,000 businesses in its network. The association was founded in 1975, has international offices in over 75 countries, and supports German entrepreneurs in developing their business abroad.
