This week, the Consul of Turkmenistan in Germany (Frankfurt am Main), Murad Ozbekbayev, held business meetings with Frankfurt's trade and economic associations to discuss the prospects for cooperation between these organizations and Turkmenistan.

During a meeting at the Frankfurt Economic Development Agency with Anna Stepanenko, Project Manager for European countries, the Middle East, and Latin America, the Consulate was introduced to the agency’s activities and objectives. Operating under the patronage of the Frankfurt City Hall, the agency is dedicated to the dynamic development of commerce and trade in the Frankfurt metropolitan area.

The discussion included an engaging exchange of views on establishing trade and economic ties between Turkmenistan and the Rhine-Main metropolitan region, opportunities for promoting Turkmen businesses in Germany, organizing reverse business missions, and hosting introductory business forums.

In negotiations at the Frankfurt Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK), the Consul met with Jürgen Ratzinger, Managing Director and Head of the International Trade Division, and Paul Schmitz, Director for Central, Eastern, and Southern Europe, Turkey, and Central Asia. The parties discussed trade, economic, and investment cooperation. The German side was provided with information on Turkmenistan’s investment potential, promising projects in energy, petrochemicals, textiles, and the medical industry, as well as the export opportunities of Turkmenistan’s products.

Additionally, the discussions addressed the organization of joint business events in Frankfurt aimed at expanding direct contacts between business communities of both countries.

The Frankfurt Chamber of Commerce and Industry, one of Germany’s oldest and third-largest chambers by economic influence, covers the city of Frankfurt and the surrounding districts of Hochtaunus and Main-Taunus. With approximately 102,000 member companies, the chamber expressed its readiness to strengthen cooperation with Turkmenistan’s business circles.
