Turkmenistan strengthens its position in the global energy arena
The 29th International Conference "OGT 2024" and the "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan" exhibition have started in Ashgabat, gathering more than 800 delegates from 250 companies and international organizations representing 52 countries. The event is organized by the state concerns "Turkmengaz" and "Turkmennebit" in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and the state corporation "Turkmengeologiya." The forum focuses on critical issues in the global oil and gas industry, including the energy transition, environmental aspects of hydrocarbon extraction, and the development of new export routes.
The conference program includes key issues of the global oil and gas industry, such as energy transition, environmental aspects of hydrocarbon extraction, and new export routes. One of the central topics was a speech by Mammetguly Astanagulov, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, who emphasized the importance of diversifying the country's gas industry and increasing exports of processed natural gas products.
Turkmenistan is actively developing natural gas processing, which contributes to the production of high-quality export-oriented products. Significant projects include a plant for producing gasoline from gas, as well as enterprises for producing polyethylene, polypropylene, ammonia and urea. The country is engaged in deep industrial processing of hydrocarbon raw materials using innovative technologies, which enhances the competitiveness of its products on the global market.
Special attention is given to the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project, which is designed to meet regional demand for natural gas and contribute to the socio-economic development of participating countries. This year marked the beginning of construction on the Afghan section of the pipeline and a gas compressor station in Turkmenistan, which will enhance the country's export capabilities.
Turkmenistan actively participates in international initiatives to ensure global energy security by proposing the creation of international legal instruments for regulating energy resource transit. In cooperation with the UN, the country promotes projects for developing low-carbon energy, including hydrogen energy.
Parallel to the conference is the OGT Expo, where more than 70 companies such as ADNOC, CNPC, SLB, Eni, Sumitomo and Petronas are showcasing innovative solutions for the oil and gas industry. Turkmen companies are also represented at "OGT 2024," including "Garagum Hazynasy," "Nurly Tolkun," "Türkmen gala," "Hazar Logistiks," "Arassa Sowda We Gurlushyk," and "MENO logistics," presenting their latest developments and technologies.
