OGT 2025 Gains Momentum: Over 100 Delegates Registered as Global Energy Leaders Confirm Participation
Registration is well underway for the 30th Anniversary International Conference and Exhibition “Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan – 2025” (OGT 2025), to be held from October 22–24, 2025, in Ashgabat. With over 100 delegates already registered, the event is shaping up to be one of the most dynamic and impactful editions to date.
Held under the forward-looking theme “Energy. Innovation. Growth,” OGT 2025 continues its tradition of serving as a premier platform for connecting government authorities, leading energy companies, financial institutions, and technology innovators. As the world accelerates toward a low-carbon future, the conference will focus on striking a balance between traditional hydrocarbon development and ambitious clean energy initiatives.
S&P Global Platts has confirmed the Knowledge Partners Status, in addition to the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and Gaffney Cline, among technical partners of the conference.
S&P Global Platts will host a series of exclusive expert roundtables, designed to offer strategic intelligence and real-time market analysis. These closed-door sessions will run parallel to the leading conference and will cover:
Global Oil & Gas Outlook 2025–2030: Insight into short- and mid-term trends in crude oil, LNG, and natural gas markets, including geopolitical drivers and price forecast scenarios.
Petrochemicals Market Intelligence: Focused on feedstock availability, price volatility, and the shifting demand landscape in petrochemicals.
Digital Transformation & Commodities Trading: Exploring the rise of AI, blockchain, and advanced risk management tools that are revolutionizing energy markets and trading platforms.
These thematic roundtables are expected to foster high-level collaboration between policymakers, analysts, and corporate leaders, making them a key highlight of the OGT 2025 agenda.
Gaffney Cline and SPE will lead the technical session on the UNDERGROUND GAS STORAGE & CO2 CAPTURE: ENABLING FLEXIBILITY AND LOW-CARBON GROWTH. As energy systems evolve to become more flexible, resilient, and low-carbon, underground gas storage (UGS) and carbon dioxide (CO2) capture are gaining strategic relevance. UGS enhances supply security and export efficiency by balancing seasonal demand, while leveraging depleted gas fields minimizes upfront investment and infrastructure costs. This session will explore international best practices in UGS design, operation, and digital monitoring, in light of Turkmengaz's initiative to repurpose local reservoirs. It will also spotlight the growing role of CO2 capture and storage in diversifying energy sources and advancing decarbonization goals.
Among this year’s featured speakers are two highly influential voices in the global energy landscape:
Daniel Yergin, the world-renowned energy expert, Pulitzer Prize winner, and Vice Chairman of S&P Global, will discuss geopolitical shifts in energy, global transition trends, and future scenarios for the world's energy markets, with a particular focus on Central Asia and Turkmenistan's role in ensuring global energy security.
Artur Andresiak, Country Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Turkmenistan, will present on the ADB’s strategic financing initiatives to support clean energy transitions in Turkmenistan. With the region’s strong solar and wind potential, ADB’s backing is playing a pivotal role in helping the country integrate sustainability into its long-term energy strategy.
Julian Bowden, Senior Research Fellow at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies, will share comparative insights from Uzbekistan’s renewable energy transition, offering practical recommendations for how Turkmenistan can accelerate its development of wind, solar, and hybrid energy projects.
OGT 2025 arrives at a pivotal moment for Turkmenistan. The country is not only driving forward on flagship hydrocarbon projects such as the Galkynysh field development and the TAPI pipeline, but is also expanding its focus on renewable energy infrastructure, including the solar-wind hybrid plant near Lake Altyn Asyr. These efforts reflect growing regional and international demand for cleaner, more diversified energy sources.
The conference is also aligned with broader global trends as showcased at forums like ADIPEC, where clean tech, decarbonization, and sustainable growth are increasingly at the core of energy policy and investment decisions. Like ADIPEC, OGT 2025 serves as a launchpad for innovative thinking, particularly as Turkmenistan pursues a balanced energy strategy that secures traditional strengths while opening doors to green growth.
